In this season of sweeping crumbs, wiping noses, playing teacher, managing a business, and loving life, I find that “simple” is the name of the game, especially in the “beauty” department! If I set the bar too high here, it’s easy to throw in the towel and end up running around messy-bunned and mascara-less.
Don’t get me wrong, I am fine with a blank-canvas-face and I’m not judging you if you’re not wearing mascara right now (in fact, I’m mascara-less, stinky and messy-bunned at this very moment). But truth be told, when I take the time to “pretty up” a bit, my husband notices and appreciates it, I feel more beautiful and in turn more confident with my day and the impact I’m having on life. It’s a great thing. And it only takes a couple of minutes!
What’s the deal with “chemical free”?
I’ve taken steps to overhaul my beauty routine over the last several years to make sure that what I’m putting onto my skin (our largest organ!) isn’t going to bite me later.
If you’re curious about how “toxic-free” your beauty products rank, you can enter them into the Skin Deep database sponsored by the Environmental Working Group. If there’s a product that you’re not pleased with, make a point to replace it with something more pure the next time you need to purchase! There are so many great natural and chemical free products hitting the market and they’re making great strides with perfecting these formulas so that you truly won’t notice the difference between the “natural version” and it’s traditional, potentially toxic counterpart.
So, I’ve timed this, and I can whip up a bit of mineral makeup in 5-7 minutes. Even if you’ve got little ones pulling on your pant legs, you can work this into your schedule!
So now, without further adieu, check out this quick video of my current makeup routine. Know that I’m not a makeup artist, I’m just a mom, working to look and feel her best with what this time and season permits!
I’ve got some Rejuva Mascara to give away!!! Post below – what are your favorite chemical-free beauty products OR why are you interested in taking steps toward toxic free for a chance to WIN!!!
P.S. These are the websites I get makeup from (and they aren’t paying me to tell you):
Alima Pure – Love their powder foundation – they actually make a color that’s light enough for me. Also love their blush (however, their mascara smears on me).
Rejuva Minerals – MASCARA.
Tarte – Concealer stick! They have many other wonderful products – visit Sephora or Ulta and they’ll do a Tarte makeover and you can know for sure which products work best for you.
Bite Beauty – well-pigmented lipsticks/gloss that’s good enough to eat (which is pretty much what happens with lipstick anyway)!
