About
Hey, I’m Callie Shepherd, an entrepreneur and mother – a “mompreneur” if you will.
Most days you can find me at home with a messy bun and a cup of black tea (that I wish was still hot), surrounded by my four kids, and dreaming of business while loving our time together around our homeschool table.
I am mostly known for my love of hiking and the outdoors, and all things crunchy. Yes, I’ve been known to make my own tortillas and grind einkorn wheat berries to make bread. But I promise I wasn’t barefoot.
Or maybe I was.
Regardless, the bread was amazing.
At the same time, I know how to throw down a slice of pizza with the best of ‘em and believe queso to be God’s personal love note to mankind.
People often refer to me as super calming – what can I say, I’m an Enneagram 9 (the Peacemaker), but I believe life is too short to get all up in a wad about most anything and the glass is more fun half full, right?! Let’s just all get along and enjoy the journey!
The thing I’m most passionate in life is time management. Ironically, I hate schedules and having to show up for anything at a certain time.
But.
Time is the most precious commodity on the planet and I believe that when we are managing it well, we find ourselves incredibly happy and fulfilled.
I don’t always get it right, but I want to share some tips, tricks and encouragement from my journey of shouldering up with other moms and growing a seven-figure income while mothering and homeschooling 4 kids (ages 10 and under!) through our home business.
Sometimes wearing both of those hats is hard.
Okay, not just sometimes. It’s always hard.
It’s like being constantly pulled in two directions on this high wire in life.
One in which I want to be this awesome rockstar mom and present for my children; and another where I am lit up and fueled by my entrepreneurial dreams.
But I’ve discovered that the tension is healthy and I’m learning to embrace it instead of fighting it.
One thing I know for sure.
None of us want to look back on our life with regret.
None of us want our kids to need therapy later because of how we lived our lives with them while they were under our roof.
The good news is, I believe that you can have your cake and eat it, too, when it comes to living out your calling as a mother right alongside your entrepreneurial dreams and passions!
Cuz I’ve discovered the Secret Sauce that makes it all work.
I believe the Secret Sauce for that cake is pursing effective time management.
But it does take work.
It does take intentionality.
It requires us to take each day and each moment seriously and to learn to savor, maximize, and treasure each one of them.
Yes, it’s easier to just do one or the other (motherhood or business) and to forget the high wire and balancing act.
But I believe high wire is worth it.
It’s worth it to figure out how to better steward the time that we have as we live our one and only life.
It’s worth it for our children to see us living each day with passion as we pursue our calling a entrepreneurs and as we allow that to fuel us in motherhood.
It’s worth it for them to see us working hard to make them a priority.
I know you want that, too!
So whether you’re a photographer, blogger, run an Etsy shop, brick and mortar, or home business, get out your umbrella and let’s walk this mompreneur thing out together!
Enjoy the journey,
Callie
